DeMbare wash their hands off Mutudza saga

DYNAMOS have distanced themselves from the tug-of-war between Castle Lager Premiership football clubs Herentals and FC Platinum over midfielder Juan Mutudza.

The 23-year-old player, who has been pivotal to FC Platinum’s push for a fourth league title in succession, is at the centre of a wrangle between the Students and the platinum miners.

He has a running contract with Herentals that is set to expire at the end of November this year.

As per the rules, he was cleared by Dynamos, the last team he turned out for while he was on loan from Herentals until December 31 last year.

But, instead of reverting back to his parent club, Mutudza, armed with the clearance from Dynamos, headed to FC Platinum who signed him without conducting any checks on his status.

Herentals made some follow-ups and engaged FC Platinum and the two teams have been communicating without finding common ground.

FC Platinum even offered to pay the Students some money with the latter refusing the advances.

After raising their grievances with the Premier Soccer League, Herentals were advised to take it up to the ZIFA Player Status Committee where the issue will now be heard as soon as the club meets the conditions of their application.

Dynamos have been accused by critics of having cleared the player outside the knowledge of Herentals.

But, DeMbare’s vice-chairman, Moses Maunganidze, yesterday told The Herald they did everything above board.

In fact, after spending two years with Mutudza on loan from Herentals, Dynamos wanted to have the player for a third year and they were negotiating with the Students only for Mutudza to snub them for FC Platinum.

“Mutudza came to my office to discuss his new package for the 2022 season after we had agreed to another one-year loan deal with his club Herentals. We exchanged positions and he left promising to revert and the next thing we heard he had joined FC Platinum,” said Maunganidze.

“The issue of clearance letter is common cause. A player gets a clearance letter from the last club that registered him and not from the principal contracting club. “As such FC Platinum requested for Mutudza clearance which was done online as per TMS requirements and further we gave them a physical letter.

“However, this did not wash away the due process of ascertaining the party that holds the economic rights of the player to consent to any move their player intended to make.

”It indicated that Mutudzas contract with Dynamos ended 31 December 2021.The online clearance is the one which is mandatory, a must do for any club when a player finds a new home. So we cleared him in the system not because he was our permanent player but because it’s due process…”

The Herald is also in position of the loan agreement between Dynamos and Herentals for the player as well as a correspondence the two originated applying for his registration with ZIFA and PSL.

“Herentals Football Club agrees to transfer on a season’s loan player Juan Mutudza to Dynamos FC. The loan period shall run from 01 January 2021 and ending 31 December 2022.

“The loan shall run from 01 January 2021 to 31 December 2021. The player is still contracted to Herentals FC up to 30 November 2022. After the loan period the player must revert back to Herentals FC,” read the correspondence.

“Herentals FC shall at its own cost provide private medical insurance for the player…

“a) Herentals Football Club state, declares and guarantees that it has 100% of the economic and federative rights of the player Juan Mutudza.

“b) Dynamos Football Club wishes to acquire the player’s registration on a temporary basis up to 31 December 2021

“c) Dynamos Football Club wishes to enter into an employment agreement for the loan duration.

“d) The two parties agreed that the player shall not feature in matches involving the two (clubs)”.

Maunganidze further furnished this publication with the player’s registration which clearly indicates he was registered as a player on loan at the Harare giants.

FC Platinum could suffer the consequences, including being relegated from the PSL, should Herentals prove their case.

Even if there was a supposed mistake in Mutudza’s registration, the fact that FC Platinum were told and acknowledged the player belonged to Herentals not Dynamos could as well nail them.

The Zvishavane miners are just a point away from winning the league title but they might as well be made to wait longer before they are confirmed with foreseen long boardroom arguments in the horizon.
