Dembo’s mother dies

The late music icon Leonard “Musorowenyoka” Dembo’s mother, Gogo Sukai Pasipanodya, has died.

She was 92.

Tendai Dembo son of the late ‘‘Chitekete’’ hitmaker, Leonard, confirmed the news of his grandmother’s passing on his Facebook page yesterday.

“The tree has fallen . . . mumvuri hapachina ambuya marwadzisa nguva haisi yedu asi makaita basa makazvara mabasa akazvara mabasa. RIP gogo. Mwari akugamuchirei akupei pekugara muchitigadzirirawo pekugara sevakuru vedu,” he wrote.

Leonard died in 1996 at the age of 37.

According to the close relatives, Gogo Pasipanodya succumbed to complications which medical experts referred to as old age complications.

Gogo Pasipanodya died yesterday at her rural home in Mhondoro-Ngezi where he had relocated following the construction of Tugwi-Mukosi Dam.

She had eight children, among them was the music legend who was the third born in the family, and 22 grandchildren. 

Contacted for comment, Gogo Pasipanodya’s nephew Mr Robson Mhike said he would give details of the funeral arrangements today since he was on his way from Mutare.

“As of now we are still on our way to Mhondoro, I will give you the details of burial arrangements tomorrow (today),” said Mr Mhike.
