COURAGE DENIAS was the hattrick hero as he netted three goals within seven minutes to hand Triangle three important points against Tsholotsho on Sunday.
Triangle started the game on a very low note as they failed to create any meaningful chances in the first stanza.
The only chance came in the 11th minute when Ralph Kawondera tested Marion Chang who responded well to the challenge.
The visitors, who were playing a dead rubber after they were relegated several weeks ago, came closest in the 41st minute but Thabani Moyo didn’t do justice to Lucky Nyati’s pass ‘by skying his effort over the crossbar.
After a dull goalless first half, Triangle coach Taurai Mangwiro made his first tactical substitution, taking off a defender Donald Dzvinyai for a more offensive player, Emmaculate Mawuna, in the 46th minute.
Mawuna had a chance to put Triangle ahead but his effort hit the crossbar in the 62nd minute.
Russel Madamombe also rattled the crossbar.
The goal, however, came after 70 minutes when Denias, who came in for Kamunda in the 60th minute, exchanged passes with captain Nhamo Lameck before chipping the advancing Chang for the opener.
Denias scored his second goal five minutes later after another beautiful pass from Mawuna before completing his hat-trick on the 77th minute to send the home crowd into frenzy.
Mangwiro was very happy man after the match.
“We did not get the best of starts in the season, this being the last home game of the season, we wanted a befitting send-off for our fans.
“It’s the first time I have beaten them in six starts, the best result for me were three draws.
“I knew it was going to be a very difficult game considering they are a bogey side to me as a person. They frustrated us in the first half but in the end it was a sweet victory”, he said.
Tsholotsho coach Darlington Dodo, who has not yet decided his future next season, was not happy with his team’s performance.
