TWO crafty brothers from Nkayi are cooling their heels in police cells after pulling off an audacious carjacking stunt in Plumtree.
Nqobile Siziba (22) and Bulisani Siziba (20), allegedly pretended to be stranded deportees in desperate need of a lift but what they really wanted was the driver’s foreign-registered Toyota Quantum.
According to police sources, the unsuspecting Good Samaritan agreed to give the pair a free ride to Plumtree. When they arrived, the brothers spun another sob story, asking to spend the night in the vehicle since they had “nowhere to go.”
Feeling pity for them, the driver allowed them to sleep inside the Quantum. But while he was fast asleep, the fake deportees turned into thieves as they allegedly rummaged through his pockets, stole the car keys, and sped off into the night along Dombodema Road.
They later dumped the driver by the roadside and vanished with the vehicle.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed that ZRP Nkayi officers tracked down and arrested the Siziba brothers. The stolen Toyota Quantum has since been recovered.
“The suspects are assisting police with investigations and will appear in court soon,” said the spokesperson.
