The accountants drawn from both public and private sectors will be among the participants at the annual event which ends on Sunday.

It is being held under the theme: “The Art of Relevance – Re-imagining Your Value Proposition.”

Over a dozen local and international speakers from a cross-section of economic clusters including the Government and private sector, are lined up to address the meeting.

The official opening is set for Saturday when the ICAZ will also inaugurate its new presidium.

According to the programme, some of the topics include rethinking value proposition optimisation as well as the talk on the art of relevance and re-imagining value proposition.

With climate change impact cutting across economic sectors, there will be a presentation on climate change, which poses the biggest risks to business opportunities.

ICAZ has also embraced digital technology and there will be a talk on integrating AI and accounting to drive economic empowerment and innovation.

There will also be a focus on the future of the profession in light of technological development and the need to develop critical 21st-century skills to remain relevant.

ICAZ is the largest body of professional accountants in the country. For over a decade, the institute has been annually donating A-level Accounting textbooks to schools across the country.

Two years ago, ICAZ donated books to Binga High School, Majiji High School in Bubi, Dinyane High School in Tsholotsho, Mpumelelo High School in Nkayi and Mabhikwa High School in Lupane to promote the teaching of accounting in rural schools.

Meanwhile, the Radiation Protection Authority of Zimbabwe (RPAZ) is also having a two-day national radiation safety and security workshop for managers and decision-makers that started yesterday.

The workshop on nuclear and radiological safety and security for decision-makers provides relevant information for the mid-to-senior management level with responsibility for the management of radiation at the workplace.

The objective is to provide information and knowledge of applicable national and international regulations and standards.

This will establish and strengthen the safety and security culture at workplaces for the protection of workers, members of the public and the environment against the effects of radiation.

Those attending include mid-senior management responsible for safety, health and environment officers, security, those from operations, production, legal departments, engineers and consultants from different organisations.—@ncubeleon
