Designers for Moza Fashion Week

Three fashion designers Kudakwashe Chigariro of Liza Couture, Philip Marufu of Amur Bespoke together with Zimbabwe’s first plus size runway model Rutendo Denise have left the country for Maputo, Mozambique for the Vodacom Mozambique Fashion Week.

The trio will be making their maiden showcase on Saturday at the Polana Serena Hotel.

Kudakwashe is a designer who has defied all odds with her distinctive designs.

He career came on spotlight after she developed a project called 1 John 3v17 that focused on children in need by offering clothing and small food parcels.

“I am very excited to showcase in Maputo as well as to network and learn best practices from other designers. I think it’s very important to travel and collaborate with other creative’s. It not only exposes you, but it forces you to keep pushing the envelope to create compelling work which is what fashion is all about – evolving and cultivating personal brand excellence which LiZA Couture is continuously redefining” she said.

Rutendo DeNise is a Zimbabwean performance poet, writer, model and social media success story. The former Head of Public Relations for Zimbabwe Fashion Week and Features Editor of Pan African Fashion & Lifestyle Magazine Domino.

Known for his custom tailored suits and flawless finish, Philip Marufu continues to raise the bar in the Zimbabwean Fashion Industry with his signature Bespoke suits.

“I would like to thank Zimbabwe Fashion Week for putting their trust in me. I’m excited because through their platform, I am receiving international and regional exposure” he said.

Zimbabwe Fashion International Executive Director Priscilla Chigariro – Gessen believes cross – industry collaboration is critical in ensuring the fashion industry continues to grow.

“We as Zimbabwe Fashion International strive to create exposure for our designers as much as we can in new markets. Mozambique has got a vibrant fashion industry and we think there will be a lot we can learn and share in Maputo this year”.

The trio will be accompanied by ZFI Executive Director Priscilla Chigariro – Gessen and ZFI Director Marshall Mutsamwira.
