Bulawayo partygoers will have to embrace the unknown when they board a train from the city to a secret bush party on September 4, with the destination remaining a mystery until arrival.
The Denim Bush Party, organised by Pardon Khanye and Lesley Masuku is designed to take entertainment beyond the traditional nightclub setting by combining a train journey, outdoor recreation and a bush party under the stars. The concept was inspired by the desire to move away from conventional parties and create an experience where the journey itself becomes part of the entertainment.
Organisers said the decision to keep the destination a secret is intentional, as it will encourage guests to interact and build connections during the journey.
“The idea was to create something different from the usual party where people arrive at a venue, dance and go home. With this concept, the party starts the moment people board the train and continues when we reach the bush destination,” Masuku said.
Masuku said entertainment will begin on the train where DJs, among them, DJ Sweeto, will play a variety of music throughout the journey before the celebrations continue at the bush venue. The concept he said, also seeks to promote tourism by introducing people to destinations that are not commonly used for entertainment, while encouraging them to experience the outdoors in a different way.
With the event taking place in a bush environment, Khanye and Masuku said safety planning had been prioritised to protect guests throughout the experience.
“Because it’s a bush camp, there are two aspects of safety we have to consider – wild animals and people who might try to harm others. We partnered with a security company to patrol the area, protect our guests and make sure any conflicts are resolved properly,” they said.
Khanye believes the concept has the potential to grow into a tourism and entertainment brand that showcases unique outdoor destinations around Bulawayo.
“This is more than just a party. We want people to enjoy the journey, meet new people and experience places they may never have visited before. We believe this concept can grow into something much bigger,” he said.
