Investigations have revealed that the prominent businessman Joseph Mutangadura, popularly known as Mtangaz, was shot dead by seven suspected robbers at his
Lisheen Estate farmhouse in Ruwa last night under unclear circumstances.
Mutangadura owned Lisheen Estate, the popular Mutangadura Hideout, several butcheries, and various other businesses.
Sources indicate that the robbers raided the farm and confronted Mutangadura, demanding cash.
It is alleged that he informed the robbers that he had no cash on him and that all the daily takings were in the abattoir.
They then shot him in the stomach, fired more than five other shots into his chest and fled the scene.
In an interview, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.
“I am still waiting for the details of the case and will soon issue a comprehensive statement on what transpired,” he said.
A team of detectives from the CID Homicide in Harare has since been deployed to the farm to conduct investigations.
