Thirteen-year-old school boy Tawanda Dhibhura became the centre of attraction at the launch of his father’s album last week. Titled “Pinda Mudariro”, the album was launched last Wednesday at Dandaro Inn.
The young musician has many a times hogged the limelight, strumming the guitar at Suluman Chimbetu and Alick Macheso shows among other venues.
Dhibhura said Tawanda contributed two songs on the album. Tawanda who turned up on stage said he had worked closely with his father.
Teachers from his school and fellow students were at the launch to celebrate and encourage one of their own. Several musicians such as Kireni Zulu, Jordan Ronnie Chataika, Dino Mudondo, Progress Chipfumo, and Jairos Chabvonga were also in attendance.
Zimbabwe Union of Musicians patron Webster Shamu was the guest of honour.
Shamu hailed Dhibhura for nurturing his son.
He likened Tawanda to the late Michael Jackson who commenced his career at a tender age except that the king of pop was beaten by his father to force him to do better.
Several speakers promised to help the youngster in his musical career.
A copy of the CD was auctioned with winning bid of US$100 belonging to Imara Investing In Africa managing director Thedias Kasaira.
Kasaira promised to continue taking a keen interest in Tawanda’s rise and expressed the hope that the teen would become a major success in music.
