CASTLE Lager Premiership new boys GreenFuel’s revival under new coach Rodwell Dhlakama continued yesterday when they outclassed hosts Triangle United in the Lowveld Derby at Gibbo.
Fresh from the big win over giants Dynamos in their last game, GreenFuel were booming in confidence ahead of the fixture and they once again proved their win against the Glamour Boys was not by chance.
Washington Mapuwa and Raymond Uchena scored for them yesterday, as they restricted Triangle to only one shot on target the entire match when Wayne Makuva’s effort was spectacularly saved by goalkeeper and captain David Bizabani, who now boasts six clean sheets.
GreenFuel started well as they welcomed Uchena and Mcclive Phiri back in the fold.
The two defenders missed Dynamos game through bereavement of their respective fathers.
Mapuwa was lively in front of goals and had his effort saved by Triangle goalkeeper Matripples Muleya in the seventh minute.
The visitors continued to push for an opener and Collins Dhuwa was industrious, dictating pace in the middle of the park. The goal eventually came in the 26th minute through Uchena whose well struck effort gave Muleya no chance after benefiting from a very good setup by Mapuwa.
Dhuwa had another chance to double GreenFuel’s lead two minutes later but his shot from the left could not find the net as the midfielder looked to punish his former paymasters.
Veteran midfielder Russell Madamombe tried to take matters into his own hands, Madamombe created a handful of half chances and his combination play with Wilson Mensah gave GreenFuel a few scares but Tatenda Gora and Tashinga Pfende were solid at the back.
GreenFuel continued dominating in the second half with Uchena outstanding in the anchor position in place of suspended defensive linkman, Xolisani Moyo.
GreenFuel eventually got the insurance goal in the 64th minute when Mapuwa converted a goal that was identical to Nqobile Ndlovu’s last week against DeMbare.
Mapuwa rose high on the far side to head home the second goal after a perfect cross from Dhuwa, who was by far the best player for Boyz DzeNharo, as GreenFuel are known in football circles.
GreenFuel gaffer Dhlakama, who has already proved his qualities since joining the Chisumbanje-based side, was happy to collect yet another set of points, which saw them climbing above their opponents on eleventh position with 20 points.
“It is a good result for my boys; it wasn’t an easy game overall but we managed to get a result that we wanted. We are happy with the clean sheet because sometimes the league is determined by goal difference. So those clean sheets are very important.
“Majority of the teams are still fighting relegation and we have to take each game as it comes. We have to take games as they come and our focus is on winning our next game and that will be the most important thing for us,” said Dhlakama.
Triangle head coach Thulani Sibanda was disappointed by the result. The hosts missed their assistant coach Thomas Ruzive through in-house problems.
