DIAMOND DECADE! . . . Radio station marks 10 years in style

EXCITEMENT is reaching fever pitch in Manicaland ahead of Diamond FM’s 10th Anniversary celebrations set for tomorrow (Saturday) at Rusape Leisure Resort.
The milestone event is expected to attract hundreds of music lovers from across the province and beyond, with organisers promising a memorable family entertainment experience, packed with music, leisure activities and fireworks from some of Zimbabwe’s top performers.
A star-studded line-up has been assembled for the potentially scintillating celebrations, with gospel musician, Dorcas Moyo, dancehall queen, Nisha Ts, Caff, Hungwe Stars, Steve Makoni, Mark Ngwazi, Vybz DJ, Hyping Canteh, Mcee Keedy, Lyke DJ and Vakorobheri Entertainment all expected to grace the stage.
Fans are eagerly waiting to see sungura sensation, Mark Ngwazi perform some of his popular hits including Dzimwe Hondo, Nyaradzo Yababa and Taurai Madzoka.

Ngwazi is also expected to give fans a taste of tracks from his forthcoming album, Bhazi Haritsike Ari Mugomo.
Rusape-born artiste, Steve Makoni is also expected to bring nostalgia to the stage with old classics such as Handiende and Zvachonyana, songs that continue to resonate with many local fans.
Apart from the musical performances, organisers say the event will provide a complete leisure experience for families and fun seekers.
The venue, situated 7km from Rusape town along Hwedza Road, offers several recreational activities including boat cruising, beach volleyball, nature hiking, braai and picnic facilities, lakeside views, kids’ play areas and scenic photo-shoot locations.
The tranquil environment of the joint is expected to complement the festive atmosphere, making the celebrations one of the biggest entertainment events to be held in the province this year.
Tickets for the celebrations are already on sale at Inyangani Timbers, 19 RG Mugabe Way in Rusape, and at Conwal Chemicals Book Shop 2 located at the NSSA Building along the Mutare-Harare Highway.
Diamond FM station manager, Jabulani “JB” Mangezi, said preparations for the anniversary celebrations are now complete, and everything is now in place for a successful event.

“We are very excited as Diamond FM celebrates 10 years of broadcasting and serving the people of Manicaland and the nation at large. This anniversary is not only about the radio station, but it is also about the community that has supported us throughout the years. We have grown together with our listeners, artistes, advertisers and various stakeholders who believed in our vision from Day One,” said Mangezi.
“We decided to organise a family-friendly event where people can come together to celebrate music, culture and entertainment in a relaxed environment. The response from fans and stakeholders has been overwhelming and encouraging. We are expecting a huge turnout because people are excited about the line-up of artistes and activities lined up for the day.
“Our team has worked tirelessly to ensure that all logistics are in place. Security, parking, entertainment facilities and other arrangements have all been finalised. We want people to come early, enjoy the scenery, participate in the leisure activities and celebrate with us in style. This is a special milestone for us, and we are confident that the event will leave lasting memories for everyone who attends,” added Mangezi.
Ngwazi, who fronts Njanja Express said he is ready for the gig.
“We are ready for the Diamond FM celebrations, and fans should expect a great show. Rusape has always supported our music, and we are coming fully prepared to entertain the people. We will perform old favourites and some new songs from the upcoming album. It is going to be a special day,” he said.
Award-winning gospel artiste, Dorcas Moyo, said fans should expect nothing short of fireworks at the celebrations.

Fast-rising sungura artiste, Simba Muchita, also expressed excitement at being part of the high-profile celebrations.
“It is an honour for me to perform at such a big event alongside experienced and respected artistes. This is a great opportunity for upcoming musicians like us to connect with fans and showcase our talent. I am looking forward to give fans a powerful performance and celebrate Diamond FM’s success,” he said.
The anniversary celebrations are expected to further cement Diamond FM’s position as one of the leading radio stations in the country, having played a key role in promoting local talent, culture and community development over the past decade.
