Rhumba group Diamond Musica will tonight start their nationwide tour with a gig slated for Red Parrot Lounge in Zvishavane. The group chose the Midlands town for the launch of their tour that will see them performing in various parts of the country before the end of the year.
A spokesperson of the group said they were on a rhumba revival mission that seeks to remind people of the good old days when the genre stole the hearts of many local music lovers.
“Rhumba is one of the genres that took the country by storm a few years ago and we want to take people down memory lane when we play most of our hits,” he said.
“The group has been concentrating on shows in Harare and we feel this December is our time to go on a national tour and reach out to other parts of the country.
“We will go to the other provinces in our next assignments and we are looking forward to a good tour.”
Diamond Musica is one of the popular rhumba groups that stormed the local music industry from the Democratic Republic of Congo more than a decade ago and settled in the country. The group’s choreography, enhanced by the talented dancing queens, has been outstanding over the years. Although, they have been quiet for a while the tour is meant to revive their waning fortunes.
