AFRO-POP musician “Bhila”, born Patriarch Manyabi, has expressed heartfelt appreciation for his fans in the diaspora, who have gone above and beyond in supporting him ahead of his upcoming concert, Bhila Live.
In a touching display of loyalty, his international supporters have collectively purchased 40 tickets for giveaways, ensuring that even fans who cannot afford the entrance fee will still have the chance to attend the show. Bhila said the gesture is a testament to the deep bond he shares with his followers across borders.
The musician, who will be joined on stage by Mzistozz Mfanafuthi, Lewanika M, Ihawu LeSizwe, Thaluso Da Poet, and Kay Kid Umfanomsotho, acknowledged the diaspora’s significant role in shaping and sustaining his career.
“The support from my fans in the diaspora has greatly elevated my career. I’m thankful to the Mlalazi family, who are based in the UK, for donating a sound system through their events company, Timola Events.
“Even without personally meeting most of those who supported me, I feel the connection is mutual. Their generosity has inspired me to deliver a great show in honour of them,” Bhila said.
He also extended his gratitude to Urban Moon and Power House, who partnered with him to help ease the financial burden of organising the concert.
On the musical front, Bhila continues to make impressive strides. His latest single, Emaweni, featuring Gwanda’s Kay Kid Umfanomsotho, has reached the number one spot on Skyz Metro FM’s Top 20 chart. The track has surpassed offerings from industry heavyweights such as Martin Sibanda and Ndolwane Super Sound’s Bhek’ Ubone, Injabulo Classics’ Konke Kuyenzeka, Jeys Marabini’s Themba Lami Likuwe, and Floppy Flaws and Mask DJ’s iLong Distance, among others.
Bhila attributed the success of Emaweni to the unwavering support of his fans, both local and abroad.
“When we recorded this song, I knew it would win many people’s hearts. That belief was confirmed by the buzz it created on social media, especially the TikTok challenge, which many enjoyed.
“With it now claiming the top spot, I’m thrilled because I didn’t put it there; the people did. Fans believed in my music and voted for it. That is the biggest reward for my hard work. Such support and strides will definitely yield more wins in the long run. I believe I’m on the right path. I just need to remain focused, stay true to myself and keep doing what I love,” Bhila said.
