Speech by ZANU PF National Political Commissar Cde Munyaradzi Machacha in a virtual address to a gathering of Zimbabweans living in China. The meeting was organised by the party’s Far East Asia District, which covers China, Japan, Thailand and Korea.
I want to recognise the leadership of ZANU PF in the Far East Asia region, our esteemed Zimbabweans living and working across the globe, distinguished guests, comrades, friends and fellow countrymen and women. I greet you all in the spirit of unity, patriotism and national pride.
I am deeply honoured to address you virtually today as Zimbabweans in the diaspora, a vital and strategic constituency of our nation and ZANU PF political party.
Though you may be physically outside our borders, your hearts, skills, ideas and commitment remain firmly anchored in Zimbabwe. On behalf of the party leadership, I would like to start by acknowledging the importance of the role played by Zimbabweans in the Far East Asia and the diaspora at large.
Zimbabweans in the diaspora play a critical and irreplaceable role in the economic development of our country. Through remittances, investments, skills transfer, innovation, and international networks, you have continued to support families, communities, and the national economy during challenging and transformative times. Diaspora remittances have become a key pillar of economic stability, contributing significantly to household welfare, education, health care and small business development.
Beyond remittances, many of you are professionals, entrepreneurs, academics and skilled workers whose knowledge and global exposure are invaluable assets to national development. Your role in attracting foreign direct investment, facilitating trade linkages, promoting tourism, and supporting industrial growth cannot be overstated. You are ambassadors of Zimbabwe’s economic potential, capable of opening doors that accelerate development and job creation back home.
Comrades, the diaspora also has a critical political and ideological role. You are the frontline marketers of ZANU PF policies, programmes, and achievements in your respective countries of residence. It is important that you articulate the true Zimbabwean story, a story of resilience, reform, and progress, countering misinformation and negative narratives that seek to undermine our sovereignty and national image.
You are called upon to explain clearly and confidently the policies of the ZANU PF-led Government anchored on peace, unity, development and economic empowerment. Your engagement with host governments, institutions, investors, and communities should reflect the values and vision of our party and nation. Comrades and friends, you will be aware that Zimbabwe is gearing up for campaigns to secure the non-permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council for the 2027-2028 term.
Elections for the seat are scheduled for June 2026, and so far, we have received endorsements from over 80 countries outside Africa. This seat will provide us with a chance to amplify our voice on global issues affecting developing nations, and hence, your advocacy and lobbying can make a difference. Central to our collective mission is His Excellency the President and First Secretary of the Party, Comrade Dr Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030, which seeks to transform Zimbabwe into an upper-middle-income economy by the year 2030.
Vision 2030 is not a slogan. It is a national roadmap grounded in industrialisation, value addition, infrastructure development, agricultural modernisation, mining beneficiation, innovation, and human capital development.
Zimbabweans in the diaspora have a key role in supporting Vision 2030 by investing in productive sectors of the economy, transferring skills, technology, and expertise, supporting innovation and entrepreneurship, promoting Zimbabwe as a safe and attractive investment destination, and participating in national development programmes and initiatives.
The Second Republic has created an enabling environment through policy reforms, engagement and re-engagement, ease of doing business reforms, and infrastructural development. The diaspora must seize these opportunities and actively partner with the Government in nation-building. Comrades, wherever we are in the world, we remain Zimbabweans first.
Our unity, discipline, and loyalty to our nation must guide our conduct. Let us remain united behind ZANU PF and the leadership of President ED Mnangagwa, as we work together to build a prosperous and self-reliant Zimbabwe. The future of our country depends on collective effort, those at home and those abroad, working together with a shared vision and common purpose.
As we prepare for the pending restructuring of the diaspora districts’ executives in 2026, leadership across all regions must be strengthened to ensure efficiency, responsiveness, and alignment with the party’s national objectives.
In this regard, the Commissariat Department will soon issue a secular outlining the process that will lead to the restructuring of the district executives in the diaspora. Additionally, party representatives outside the country have the critical responsibility of monitoring Zimbabwean students studying overseas.
You must guide and advise these young people, urging them to be cautious of the dangers of drugs and other harmful influences, while encouraging them to remain engaged in positive, patriotic and community-oriented activities.
As I conclude my speech, I would like to emphasise that discipline leads to success. In this context, for ZANU PF members in the diaspora, discipline refers to upholding party values and policies, adhering to ZANU PF principles and ideology, promoting unity and cohesion, avoiding internal conflicts and factionalism, engaging constructively, and building positive relationships with host communities and other stakeholders.
In addition, diaspora districts must work closely and cordially with their respective embassies, fostering strong relationships that enhance communication, coordination, and support for Zimbabweans abroad.
In conclusion, I urge all members of the Far East Asia and Zimbabweans in the diaspora at large to continue playing their economic, political, and developmental roles with renewed commitment.
Be proud ambassadors of ZANU PF, firm advocates of Vision 2030, and active participants in Zimbabwe’s transformation agenda.
Together, let us build the Zimbabwe we want, a united, peaceful, prosperous, upper-middle-income economy by 2030. I thank you and wish you a prosperous new year. Forward with Vision 2030.
