The gangly Dynamos goalkeeper had a foul awarded in his favour by referee Muchenje after a challenge from Chikafa but he (Chigova) went on to push him in retaliation, earning himself a straight red card, cancelling out Dynamos’ numerical advantage after Triangle’s Richard Kawondera was sent off for a second bookable offence. And former Dynamos son, Dinyero, was not amused by Chigova’s behaviour yesterday and called for the goalminder to be heavily sanctioned by his club.
“Chigova must be heavily fined and he must lead by example. The referee had already protected him but he went on to do the unexpected (pushing Chikafa),” Dinyero said.
Dinyero also took aim at some Dynamos players whom he said played below par in yesterday’s match.
“There is no player in the current Dynamos squad who has the zeal to play for the team . . . There’s no player who can change things (around) if the team is down. The coach gives 10 percent of his effort and the players must come in with the other 90 percent but they are not doing that,” said Dinyero, who served as the Dynamos’ assistant coach under Lloyd Mutasa in 2011. Dynamos are still to win a match this season after draws against Black Mambas, Chicken Inn and Shabanie Mine before yesterday’s match against league debutants Triangle.
Meanwhile, Triangle coach Gishon Ntini was happy to earn a point yesterday.
“I am excited and as I have already said I am the lion of Zimbabwean football. I am not afraid of Dynamos and it will always remain very hard for them to beat a team that I coach. I don’t lose to them and I had not travelled 580km (from Triangle to Harare) for nothing. I respect Dynamos but I will not lose to them. We have come to the Premiership to stay and it’s good news for Dynamos and Highlanders fans in Triangle as they will have the opportunity to watch their teams all because of Triangle United,” Ntini said.
