LEARNERS and members of the surrounding community living with disabilities in the Chikukwa area of Chimanimani District are set to benefit from inclusive ablution facilities at a local school.
This came to light during a ground breaking ceremony for the construction of disability friendly ablution facilities at Chikukwa Primary School in Ward 10 under Chief Chikukwa.

The project is being implemented by Quadriplegics and Paraplegics Association of Zimbabwe (QUAZ) and Caritas Diocese of Mutare in partnership with Christian Blind Mission Global (CBMG) and Federation of Organisations of Disabled People in Zimbabwe (FODPZ).
The ground-breaking ceremony brought together Government and development partners officials.

The actual ground-breaking ritual was conducted by District Development Coordinator, Mr Douglas Machipini, together with the school’s deputy head, Mr Victor Chambwera and Chief Chikukwa.

Speaking at the event, QUAZ representative, Mr Mike Muringa, said: “The project aims at helping people with disabilities with user-friendly toilets and ramps to ensure they access sanitation with dignity and independence”
The project seeks to improve access to safe and dignified sanitation for learners and community members with disabilities.
