Dispute over jacket ends in back, stomach stabbing at Methodist Village

A 25-year-old Bulawayo man has appeared in court for allegedly stabbing a complainant with a kitchen knife on the back and on the stomach, following a misunderstanding.

Khayalethu Thwala of Methodist Village appeared before Western Commonage regional magistrate Mr Pasipanodya Maturure facing a charge of attempted murder.

He was remanded in custody to June 19.

Prosecutor, Ms Melissa Dube told the court that the accused person and the complainant are not related but reside in the same village.

She said that on May 28, 2026 at around 11AM, the accused person allegedly stabbed Thabani Moyo (30) with a kitchen knife once on the back and once on the stomach following a misunderstanding over the accused person’s jacket.

The court heard that after the accused person committed the crime he ran away to his home to hide.

A police report was made leading to the arrest of accused person, while the complainant was referred to hospital for medical attention, said Ms Dube.
