In college there isn’t anyone holding your hand or forcing you to make any decisions.
Often times, the lecturers will give you an assignment and a date of when it is due, and it’s up to you to decide when you will work on it. That is where procrastination may come in.
You may want to keep pushing it off and before you know it, the due date will be here.
The biggest obstacle that most students won’t point out is yourself. You may be like, “What, why me?”, But it is true.
College can be very challenging at first, especially trying to balance social and school life. I feel as if the most difficult challenges are procrastination, balancing a job and school work, and the distractions you may come across.
And dissertations put you on the right track and humble you.
Even if you feel that you can do away with it, you will still go back to the drawing board.
It is a stage where every student is put to a litmus test.
There is no way you can skip this part unless you are a magician.
Only magicians can skip this stage.
College is a time where young adults gain independence and the ability to pursue their passions; however, this comes with a lot of work and effort.
Distractions come as friends, parties, and sometimes even family. You will have to manage your time and priorities to ensure that your school work is finished without any distractions.
Having self-discipline will be the most helpful way to overcome these challenges.
But the most frustrating stage, which has seen many students, is the dissertation time.
Dissertation will always humble you, no matter who you are.
Many fellow students have failed to cross the “River Jordan” on the academic journey at this stage.
While many have committed and are committing academic fraud, where they pay for some individuals to do the dissertations for them.
In the first attempt, most students find it difficult and motivation can become lacking.
This can lead to self-doubt and questioning your own choices.
I have seen this happening often and sometimes, it leads to burn-out. But, however, if you learn to manage your time well and pursue what you love regardless of what others say, you will be in for a great experience.
If you can fight instances of self-doubt, laziness, and put hard work and passion into play, you will do great in your dissertations.
The most difficult part of being a student can be having the self-discipline to study every day and prepare for tests ahead of time.
Dissertation time should be treated like your job, and if you want to do well, you will need to put in the work.
Embarking on your journey to be a student in college can be very intimidating and certainly distracting with all of the activities that will be available for you to choose from.
You are in a new environment, learning about your passions, and cultivating new relationships whether it be with other students, coaches or professors.
When you first enter the college environment, I found that it was important that I keep an open mind about the various activities I wanted to be a part of.
After choosing those activities, it was essential to ensure that I had the time to commit to them fully in order to get the most out of the experience as well as fulfil the various responsibilities that came along with being a part of these groups.
I have always found unlearning to be the most difficult part of learning, but it also happens to be the most important part of the learning process.
Some may want to say exams are difficult, but dissertation is the most frustrating stage while it is the most vital.
Fellow students, dissertation will whip you into line and we ought to do it in the confines of time to avoid disappointments.
What aspects of college do you find most challenging?
Some students face a number of academic challenges, including finding time to study, understanding course content and maintaining a high degree of motivation.
Along with meeting these challenges, students often struggle to balance academic demands with work, personal and social experiences.
There is no question that the first semester of the freshman year of college is the most critical.
Many studies show that freshman year is the time when students most likely drop out of college — if not permanently, then temporarily.
Like I always say, being at college comes with a lot of responsibilities.
Those responsibilities require a student to fulfil otherwise, the results will be a disaster.
The most challenging stage is a dissertation.
Ask a student what makes them sweat, the answer is, dissertation.
This monster called dissertation is what makes a degree or any studies.
Many students have lost the ploy to pass following failure to finish their dissertations.
I am not here to teach my fellow students how to tackle a dissertation, but I am just here to encourage you to work on it over the course of time.
I would spend every night until 4am on my dissertation, until I came to the point when I could not write another word, not even the next letter. I went to bed.
At 8 o’clock the next morning I was up writing again.
It was tough balancing school and having so much freedom.
At first you think, no class-free time, but then exams roll around and you realize that you only kinda understand what was going on in class.
It’s important to stay on top of your school work and learn the material. It’s also where you learn how to be a functioning human being, your good (and bad) roommate stories will shape how you live the rest of your life.
As students, you may enjoy college life to the fullest but dissertation will still humble you.
Good luck!
