Divine Hlatshwayo, an ambitious and dynamic model from Bulawayo, has been selected to represent Zimbabwe in the upcoming Miss Eco-Tourism World competition.

Scheduled to take place in Durban, South Africa, from February 12 to 18, the event will see contestants from around the globe vying for the prestigious world title.

Hlatshwayo expressed excitement about participating in a competition that not only celebrates the beauty and diversity of Zimbabwe but also advocates for sustainable tourism practices — a cause close to her heart.

“This competition provides me with a unique opportunity to showcase the natural wonders and eco-friendly initiatives of our beloved Zimbabwe. It is my utmost intention to leave a lasting impression and create awareness about the importance of preserving our environment through responsible tourism,” she explained passionately.

Initially securing the 1st runner-up position in the national competition, Hlatshwayo stepped into the role of Queen after the previous titleholder had to relinquish her duties due to unforeseen circumstances. Now, with grace and responsibility, she is ready to take the global stage as the representative of Zimbabwe.

The 25-year-old views this competition not only as an opportunity to further her career but also to make a mark in the modelling industry while showcasing Zimbabwe’s natural wonders and eco-friendly initiatives.

Armed with a Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management from the Midlands State University, Hlatshwayo embodies both beauty and intelligence.

“Aspiring to represent Zimbabwe on a global scale feels like a great honour and responsibility, which I’m more than willing to take.

“This competition presents a significant opportunity for me to further my career and make a name for myself in the modelling industry while showcasing Zimbabwe’s natural wonders and eco-friendly initiatives,” she stated.

Beyond her impressive educational background, which also includes a National Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Business Management from Zimbabwe Open University, Hlatshwayo is a successful entrepreneur. She is the proud owner of the Undeniably Divine mink lashes brand and serves as the Matabeleland South provincial director for Miss Pre-Teen and Teen Intellect Zimbabwe, exemplifying her commitment to empowering young women in her community.

Working as a tourism and marketing intern at the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority, Hlatshwayo continues to contribute to the promotion of Zimbabwe’s natural and conservation efforts.

As she prepares for the Miss Eco Tourism World competition, she aims not only to learn from the diverse platform and fellow models but also to uplift and inspire others.

“I expect to fly my Zimbabwean flag so high that every regular Zimbabwean girl can know that if I can do it, they can also do it,” she affirmed with determination. —@TashaMutsiba
