BULAWAYO’S DJ Cooper Man, real name Mncedisi Ndlovu, was on Saturday night robbed of cash and cellphones at gunpoint in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The DJ who is signed under popular DJ, Clock’s AM-PM records as a producer, said he was travelling to his home at Weltevredenpark at around 8PM to prepare for a gig at Cecil Mall in Johannesburg when his car developed problems.
“Jozi is something else. As I was dashing home to change to get ready for a gig I’d been invited to at Cresta Mall, my car broke down on the freeway, just 18KM away from where I stay at Weltevredenpark.
“I got outside to check what the problem was and I suddenly saw a gun being pointed at me. I was pushed to the ground by three men who told me to lie down. They searched me and took my cellphones and money, before disappearing into the night,” said Cooper Man.
To his shock, police whom he reported the robbery to showed no remorse, instead telling him it was a common type of mugging and that he was lucky to be alive.
“I went to the police to report the incident and they said that’s what robbers do these days. They said I was lucky to be alive because if you get stuck on the freeway for more than 10 minutes, you’re gone,” said the DJ.
