For years, Zimbabweans living in Botswana, together with music lovers from the neighbouring country, have called for live performances from some of Zimbabwe’s established artistes.
Their wish will finally come true on September 27, when top acts take to the stage at Magoditshane Fighters Hall in Gaborone.
The show, dubbed the Boipuso Activation Show, will feature a star-studded line-up including DJ Dr Love, Bolamba Culture Birds, Godolude, and Abigail Mabuza.
Co-organiser DJ Dr Love said the event was put together in response to overwhelming requests from the Botswana community.
“Fans have been asking for Zimbabwean acts, and they are excited about this gig because for some artistes, it will be their first time performing in Botswana. People have always begged me to bring Bolamba Culture Birds to Gaborone, so this is a dream come true for them. The line-up is a perfect combination of rhumba, disco, and contemporary music,” he said.
For Bolamba Culture Birds, the show marks their debut performance in Gaborone. Director Mthabisi ‘Mthae’ Dube said they are thrilled to finally meet their fans.
“This gig is happening purely because of demand. Our fans in Gaborone have been requesting us through social media, and we promise to give them our best performance,” said Mthae.
Multi-talented musician Godolude, who previously launched his album in Botswana in 2022, said he was eager to return to the stage.
“It’s always special to perform in Botswana because the TjiKalanga-speaking community has so much love for our music. As EzeEnergy, we are prepared to deliver another powerful live performance,” said Godolude.
With such a diverse line-up, the Boipuso Activation Show promises a night of electrifying entertainment, bridging cultures through music and dance.
