Kwekwe based Black Identity Record’s DJ Fidelis, real name Fidelis Isaac and Judgment Yard will represent Zimbabwe at the annual Zimbabwe Cup Clash scheduled for the United Kingdom in March.

The stage show that features top UK sounds is likely to take Zim dancehall to the world.

Event organiser Alfred “King Alfred” Munenga said the clash will have 10 times the zest as the event was celebrating its 10th anniversary.

“The event exposes and uplifts the artistes and deejays to a higher level. It is a battle amongst deejays and the winner walks away with cash prize and a prestigious trophy.

“King Alfred has become a household name that is helping to promote not only Zim dancehall but urban grooves as well.

“At the event, contestants play Zimbabwean music. That way they expose it to different nationalities will be present at the event. The cup clash has been growing over the years, attracting more each year,” he said.

King Alfred is also a former winner of the original Zimbabwe Cup Clash that was introduced by Black Giant in 1996. He competed against top sounds, the likes of Stereo One and Silverstone as New Generation.

He said the idea to continue the tradition was brought about by the need to keep memories of Zimbabwean music alive especially to those in the diaspora.

“We have two categories in this clash and these are Dancehall Clash and Afrobeats. Its taking place March 28th 2015 at Dunstable Leisure Centre, United Kingdom,” he said.

Judgment Yard has a reputation for rocking crowds any day and anywhere.

It is amongst the most wanted deejays in the country and has featured in different events in and around Africa.

Black Identity boss Dj Fidelis on the other hand has earned its spot after winning Africa Cup in South Africa last year.

Known in musical cirles as Dj Fydale, he is a Zim dancehall producer and who specialises in reggae music.

“I started deejaying early 2000 in the days of Jah B and Stereo One. I have won many sound clashes like 2010’s Harare 100 Show Cup Clash,” said the ecstatic deejay.

In the past the event has hosted Winky D who used to have a sound with popular deejay Garry B, Freeman, Lady Squanda, Seh Calaz King Shaddy, Soul Jah Love and last year Killer T made the list.
