THE fourth annual DJ Mapressa’s Glam and Fashion Show brought an undeniable sparkle to Johannesburg on Saturday night, dominating social media with its display of opulence and cutting-edge style.

Hosted at a luxurious hotel, the red-carpet event attracted a constellation of stars, including prominent South African television actors Cebolenkosi Mthembu (known as Detective Nyawo) and Thandeka Dawn King, both celebrated for their roles in the popular series Uzalo. They were seen mingling with notable Zimbabwean personalities such as Lady N, musician Mzoe 7, businesswoman and philanthropist Charity Sizani Tshuma, and a host of other creative talents from across the arts spectrum.

Themed “Classy and Glamorous”, the event lived up to expectations. A standout moment of the evening was the inaugural Mapressa Glam modelling pageant, where Plumtree-born Brian Sibanda and Nobuhle Ndlovu were crowned Mr and Miss Mapressa Glam 2025, respectively.

Formerly known as the Mapressa July, this year’s event cemented its status as a cross-border cultural melting pot, showcasing Zimbabwean and South African talent in music, fashion, acting and media.

Speaking to Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub from Johannesburg, DJ Mapressa expressed his delight at the smooth execution of the event.

“To host such an event without any incidents, and to see everyone return home safely, shows how well it went. I’m grateful to everyone who attended — the companies, organisations and individuals, who made the show a success.

Our focus now shifts to next year’s edition, set for June 6, 2026,” he said.

The event was more than just a celebration of fashion and glamour. Many of the businesses present — most of them

Zimbabwean-owned — were there to support fellow Zimbabweans. Scholarships were awarded, and entrepreneurs received valuable support through networking with established professionals.Musician Mzoe 7 said the event filled him with pride.

“I saw our people uniting. I saw love. I saw scholarships being presented. I saw business relationships forming, and I learnt that we can all build together. Every deserving person walked away with something. DJ Mapressa, you are who you think you are. God bless you.”

With momentum growing and support increasing each year, DJ Mapressa’s Glam and Fashion Show is fast becoming one of the must-attend events on the Southern African entertainment calendar.
