HARARE DJ Jason Le Roux put up a top notch performance in his two-hour set at Club Eden on Saturday evening, where the refurbished VIP section was unveiled.
In a bid to beat the elements, Club Eden management has erected a roof and put a tent to block wind and rain from the VIP section. On Saturday night gas braziers were also available to keep those in the VIP section warm during the show.
Performing for the second time in Bulawayo, DJ Jason Le Roux started his two hour set that was split into two parts, at 11.30PM.
The first hour was South African house and the second part was a mixture of European house, hip hop R’n’B and some South African house.
One would have thought that since he was a Harare DJ he had no clue what club bangers rocked Bulawayo. However, he surprised all and sundry as he played the one hour set of South African house with tracks such as Y Tjukutja by Uhuru featuring Oskido and Professor, Remember You by DJ Clock featuring Beatenberg Pluto and some deep house by DJs Euphonik, Fresh and Black Coffee.
For those who are DJs and know how to mix, DJ Jason Le Roux would move across play South African house track and then move to electro house and then to hip hop.
This is a difficult skill to acquire and DJ Jason Le Roux showed that he was one of the leading DJs in the country.
DJ Jason Le Roux would interact with the crowd and even had the chance to take a selfie with the crowd, that he said he would upload on social media photo sharing site Instagram.
DJ Jason Le Roux wrapped up his set at around 1.30AM.
After the show Club Eden resident DJ Slammer acknowledged that Le Roux’s set was good and described him as brilliant on decks.
“He has been crying to come to Bulawayo and I now see why. He is brilliant when he is on the decks and this is good for Club Eden to have variety so that we keep above the rest,” he said.
Club Eden manager Emmanuel Mahaso said DJ Jason Le Roux did well during his set and was happy with the crowd’s response as evidenced by them not leaving the dance floor.
Asked why DJ Jason Le Roux started early, Mahaso said he wanted local DJs Keezy and Slammer to belt out tunes well into the night.
“We started his set a bit early because we wanted to give our resident DJs also a chance to be on the decks. Also Jason is travelling back to Harare so we wanted to give him ample time to rest so that he travels refreshed,” he said.
It seems that Club Eden is the place that night crawlers wind up their evening of revelling as the joint begins to fill up after 11.30 PM.
Before that time the club has a reasonable number of people and the dance floor is not that full and one can dance to music and even when Dr Malinga’s track Via Orlando is played can imitate his high kicks.
But after 12 midnight there will be little room on the dance floor and the Dr Malinga high kicks will be out of revellers’ dance routines.
The VIP area was erected for those who want to sit down and enjoy the night and dance with their friends while drinking the wise waters without the hustle of being squashed on the dance floor.
Before the refurbishment the VIP area was a good place to sit down and have your drinks during summer but with the bitter temperatures of winter, it was not an ideal place to be.
