Durban’s finest and Afrotainment boss, DJ Tira, affectionately known as Mr Marufu by Zimbabweans who have grown fond of his frequent visits and his visible enjoyment of the country’s warm hospitality, is set to return to what has become his second home this festive season.

The multi-award-winning South African star will travel to Zimbabwe later this month for a performance in Filabusi.

DJ Tira is billed to headline the inaugural Chivas Festival, an event named after Filabusi businessman Leo Hove, popularly known as Chivas. The festival is slated for December 19 at Filabusi Centre.

Mr Marufu will share the stage with local talent including Mzoe7, Jaycee (Mr Ungayithi Vuu), Zhezhingtons, Baby Girl, Tropical Quins dance group, and Bulawayo Queens, supported by a rotation of DJs led by DJ Sweeto.

DJ Sweeto, one of the event organisers, said the Chivas Festival was inspired by the need to bring the Filabusi community together and celebrate the town’s growing entertainment culture.
“Filabusi is a vibrant town with a lot of potential. We wanted to showcase its talent and hospitality, which is why we came up with this event. We’re excited to provide a platform for locals to enjoy good music, food, and company,” he said.

He added that securing DJ Tira, riding high with his popular 2025 hit Awungazi, was a major milestone for the festival.
“We’re thrilled to have DJ Tira on board! He’s a huge name in Zimbabwe, and his presence is a testament to the growing entertainment scene in Filabusi. His music will definitely get everyone on their feet. We’re grateful he agreed to perform and are expecting an unforgettable night.”

Sweeto said comprehensive safety and crowd-control measures have been put in place to ensure a smooth event.
“Safety is our top priority. We’ve put in place robust security measures, including ID checks, bag checks, and a trained security team. We’ll also have medical staff on site and a clear emergency response plan. We are working closely with local authorities to ensure the event runs smoothly.”

He added that the Chivas Festival is only the beginning of a long-term plan to grow Filabusi’s entertainment landscape.
“We’re committed to developing entertainment culture in Filabusi and creating platforms for local talent to shine. We envision regular events and festivals that showcase the best of Filabusi’s music, art, and culture. We’re working with stakeholders to build a vibrant scene that benefits the entire community.”
