DJ Tira wows fans

Most patrons who attended the show danced to every song the internationally acclaimed DJ had to offer. The DJ, who was booked at Holiday Inn, said he had nothing but love for Bulawayo.
In a Press conference held at Holiday Inn, DJ Tira said expressed his love for his Bulawayo fans whom he described as a huge fan base in the whole of Zimbabwe.
“I have played in a number of countries, but everytime I play in Zimbabwe, Bulawayo in particular, I feel so humbled by the love they have for my music,” he said.
The internationally-acclaimed DJ also said the love of people such as those from the City of Kings and Queens is what has kept him going all over the years considering the fact that he was finalising his Ezase Afro Volume 2 album.
“I was born in KwaZulu-Natal, but everytime I am in Bulawayo, I feel so safe and welcomed that it inspires me to work harder and give what people would enjoy.
“They (fans) have over the years kept me going and I can say up to today I am working on my Ezase Afro Volume 2 which I believe will do justice as far as entertainment is concerned,” said the soft-spoken DJ.
The Ungazoba Serious hitmaker also shared the stage with local DJs who managed to keep patrons on their feet while dancing to local and international tunes.
Even though the event was reserved for a limited number of patrons to ensure maximum comfort and easy movement, patrons said the show was a good one and the attendance was quite good.
“The guy has managed to do it again and even though this time around it is in a limited area, the joint is upmarket,” said a patron.
In as much as Zimbabwean house music is growing, DJ Tira said there was still a lot to be done.
“In as much as Zimbabwean house music is on another level, my perception is that local artistes need to try and focus on being original.
“Originality can be related to things close to your people and people should understand that making hits is not about competing with one another but producing good music,” he said.
On rumours of Tira cutting ties with Big Nuz, the artiste said they were just unfounded rumours that were circulating because Big Nuz is like family to him.
“Rumours of me splitting from Big Nuz were unfounded and I want to clarify that Big Nuz is like family to me.
“And just like any other family, there will always be problems, but it is what we do after stumbling on life’s blocks that really determines who we truly are,” said the tattooed artiste.
Born Mthokozi Khathi, DJ Tira has worked with various artistes who include Oskido on his Church grooves The Fourth Commandment under House Africa Records and Durban’s Finest Volume 2 which was also known as The Finest Level under Steer House.
The down-to-earth DJ is also behind the success of most of Durban’s house music and has his own house music label called Afrotainment.
