Young and upcoming artiste Tendai Chaza, whose stage name is DJ Wissler, is set to release his latest album next week titled “Sekuru Nemuzukuru”.
The seven-track album will be a mix of all genres.
Speaking in an interview, DJ Wissler said he was putting final touches to the new album, adding that he had diversified by experimenting with many types of beats and then fused them into one.
DJ Wissler said the album is expected to receive an overwhelming response since it has been some time without releasing anything.
“The album took me a year to bring to life and I hope people will enjoy it as much as I did putting it together,” he said. “It is a fusion of various genres into one component.
“The album was recorded at Young and Gifted Artist (YAGA) in Chitungwiza and it fuses mbira, amapiano and other traditional and modern instruments.”
Other songs on the album are “Loving You, “Mqokolo”, “Shandira Mweya”, “Shanda”, “Shaker”, “Tora Mari Yako” and a bonus track, “Tavhura Bhawa” .
“It is a dance album with soulful sounds as the title ‘Tavhura Bhawa’ which is a celebration of the current situation whereby beerhalls and other recreational places were opened after being under closure of Covid-19 regulations.
“There is a fusion of maskandi and house and a fusion of gospel and house.
“Working with various people keeps me relevant. I also keep my ears on the streets, checking on new music trends. I also try to cater for the masses, hence I mix genres to give something new and interesting.”
DJ Wissler, who is a disc jockey at Club Millennium at Chikwanha Gardens and a music producer, said he is preparing for the videos of the songs in tandem with the current trends.
He said his favourite song was “Shandira Mweya” because “it has been a rough road trying to make it, so people should work hard for the benefit of their careers”.
“Very soon I will be finalising the videos tothe songs and post them on all my online platforms,” he said.
“This album came when I wasn’t sure where I was going and it has brought hope; now I know I’m destined for greatness.”
DJ Wissler started showing interest in music in 2015, but could not release any song owing to financial challenges.
