Nurses in and around Bulawayo are in for a treat with the inaugural get-together party scheduled for next week Saturday at the newly renovated Emakhandeni Cricket Club in the city.
The event is set to kick off at midday and promises to continue into the late hours, welcoming everyone but with a special focus on nurses.
DJs Phat Joe and Khumz, in collaboration with the Emakhandeni Cricket Club proprietor Nhlanhla Nkomo, have orchestrated this gathering to offer nurses across Bulawayo a chance to unwind from the demanding nature of their profession. In addition to his role as a DJ, DJ Khumz is a certified nurse aide with extensive experience in the field.
The event will feature live performances from Bulawayo’s top bands, DJs, musicians, and dancers, including Ramsey K, Band Fusion, The Big Ray Band, DJ PhatJoe, Sweeto, Prince Eskhosini, Khumz, Feel G, Mdue Sevan, DJ Slimfit, and DJ Skaiva. Additionally, notable artistes such as Fab G, Barrack Bozza, CliffJeans, Raphongolet, and Mickey, Elbee will be in attendance, with Babongile Sikhonjwa serving as the host.
DJ Phat Joe shared his sentiments regarding the event, highlighting the importance of recognising the challenges nurses face and providing them with an opportunity to relax amidst good music, food, and drinks in an open-air setting.
“Nursing is a profession that many fail to comprehend for its profound responsibility, unwavering commitment, and potential emotional toll,” he remarked.
“Recognising this, it becomes imperative for nurses to gather and rejuvenate their spirits amidst uplifting music, delectable cuisine, and refreshing beverages in the open air.”
Emphasising the significance of appreciating and celebrating nurses alongside other healthcare professionals, the DJ stressed the inclusivity of the event.
“Nurses deserve the same level of appreciation and recognition as doctors, paramedics, pharmacists, and every other healthcare professional, including nurse aides and healthcare assistants. That’s why we extend an invitation to everyone to join us in celebrating alongside Bulawayo’s nurses,” he explained.
Nkomo echoed this sentiment, envisioning the gathering as an annual affair to unite nurses from diverse backgrounds.
“Nurses are dispersed across the globe, and this event serves as a unique opportunity to unite them in one location. Moving forward, this will become an annual tradition,” he said.
DJ Phat Joe expressed hope that the event would provide a fulfilling experience for healthcare professionals, empowering and motivating them to continue their invaluable service.
For those seeking a more exclusive experience, DJ Phat Joe said VIP and VVIP areas will be available, with the latter reserved for doctors and esteemed guests, ensuring a premium view and privacy.
