The popular Doek and Slay event will not take place in cities outside Harare this December as organisers are gearing up for a “Mega Doek and Slay event” scheduled for December 15 in Harare.

They have invited patrons from Bulawayo, Gweru, Mutare, Masvingo, Kadoma, and beyond to join in for an unforgettable experience featuring fashion, inspiration, lifestyle, and fun.

This announcement has been met mixed feelings, mostly with disappointment from fans in other cities who were eagerly anticipating the events in their cities and towns.

Attendees took to social media to voice their disappointment, highlighting the importance of these events in promoting community and local talent. Some, while accepting the move, have challenged organisers to consider taking the event to a bigger venue, the National Sports Stadium.

In their message to supporters, the organisers expressed gratitude, stating, “To our lovely queens across Zimbabwe, we appreciate your enthusiasm and support for Doek and Slay.”

“Due to logistical considerations, we regret to inform you that we won’t be hosting events in cities outside Harare this December. But, we’re excited to announce a Mega Doek & Slay event in Harare on 15 December,” organisers wrote.

The organisers reassured fans that they plan to return to cities across Zimbabwe after the rainy season, with events scheduled for April next year. They encouraged attendees to stay tuned for updates and to get ready to slay in April 2025.

Meanwhile, the Doek and Slay team is also preparing for their first international gathering in Lusaka, Zambia, on October 26 at the Show Grounds Main Arena. This expansion reflects the growing popularity of the event series beyond Zimbabwe’s borders.
