Doer by Rose: The beauty brand built on action

Ronald Takudzwa Sambona-Youth Interactive Correspondent

“Beauty lies not in the eyes of the beholder; it lies in the eyes of the doer.”

Rose Nyatanga founded Doer by Rose, strongly believing that action is the foundation of success. “Doer by Rose has always been more than beauty products. It’s a mindset and reminder that having an idea is only the beginning. What matters is what we do with that idea.”

Doer by Rose believes that beauty isn’t only about how something looks. It’s also about the effort, creativity, and intention that go into creating it.

“I want my brand to inspire people to do the work to turn their ideas into reality. My brand represents that belief in work.”

Today, Doer by Rose, which began as a cosmetics brand offering lipsticks, lip glosses, eye shadow palettes, and brushes, has become a dominant luxury lifestyle brand with a diverse product portfolio.

Loved ones, family, customers, and fellow creatives have all contributed to Doer by Rose’s success. “Starting a business isn’t easy. Having people who support makes a difference, especially when things don’t go as planned.” “My customers’ purchases, feedback, and continued interest have helped me understand what they want and where I should focus.”

“A brand isn’t built in isolation. The people who support your business become part of its journey too.” Collaborating with creatives in the beauty industry has provided her opportunities to connect with the industry, share ideas, and contribute to the wider beauty space.

“Collaboration facilitates learning and makes the industry richer.”

“My proudest accomplishment is taking Doer by Rose from an idea to a brand with products that people can experience, purchase, and support.”

“Beyond business, I’m introverted and enjoy my own space and silence. I love reading, travelling, adventures, and family time.”

“You don’t have to be loud to dream big. Most of my work happens quietly, behind the scenes, long before anyone gets to see results.” She admires passionate women who build something meaningful, grow in their fields, and find their own direction.

“I apply other women’s lessons, but my brand must reflect my vision and values.”

“I believe in action, authenticity, commitment, and effort in achieving my goals. I value integrity, perseverance, personal growth, and family.”

These values shape how Rose lives, approaches challenges, and builds her brand.

Rose holds a Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree in Retail and Logistics Management from Midlands State University.

“Running a beauty brand involves much more than developing products. Decisions about sourcing, pricing, stock management, distribution, and the market are made. My degree gave me a foundation for understanding these processes.”

“Education and experience are complements. Education gives you knowledge; experience teaches you application.”

“Education plays an important role in liberating women. Access to education, resources, and opportunities empowers them to build their financial independence.”

“We need practical support for businesswomen: access to funding, mentorship, business training, and opportunities to showcase products.”

“Finance is the biggest challenge in my industry. Money to source products, package, ship, and market.”

“Academic institutions must expose women to practical entrepreneurship. Connect them with established businesswomen.”

“Communities must give businesswomen opportunities and take their products seriously.

“Rose believes that with more support and opportunities, women can turn ideas into sustainable businesses, contributing to families, communities, and the wider economy.

Rose’s message to young girls:

“Find your direction, do the work, and see what you can build. That’s what being a doer means.”
