adminEducation, Sports, Arts and Culture Deputy Minister Lazarus Dokora said the Educational Transition Fund was not enough to revive the cash starved sector.
He said many schools in urban and rural areas required the assistance of Government and the private sector.
Cde Dokora was speaking at the official opening of Mother Touch Junior School in Tynwald, Harare yesterday.
“We have to keep working with partners to come up with favourable results and as a ministry we are very proud to be associated with developments which add value to our education system.
“The Education Transition Fund has provided books for four subjects and that is no where near adequacy,” he said.
He commended the school for taking steps to sensitise the learners on environmental education in the face of global warming, population challenges and land degradation.
Chief executive of Mother Touch Group of Schools, Mrs Salome Mutsinze, said the school did not only meet the standards of the Ministry of Education but met international standards of being a Cambridge Centre early this year.
