Zanu PF has conveyed its condolences to the Dongozi family, the media fraternity and the Zimbabwe Union of Journalists (ZUJ) following the death of Foster Dongozi, a veteran journalist and secretary-general of the scribes’ union.
In his statement, the party’s acting secretary for Information and Publicity and party spokesperson Cde Patrick Chinamasa described Dongozi as a hardworking journalist who was objective and loved his profession and colleagues.
“Just recently we were elated to host him of the annual editors’ dinner where he spoke eloquently about the need to deepen the culture of working together as opposed to ‘the us against them’ approach.
“In him, we have lost a friend, an intellectual, an investigative media practitioner, a leader and a family man. May his soul rest in eternal peace,’’ said Cde Chinamasa.
Dongozi died on December 23 at Parirenyatwa Hospital after complaining of shortness of breath. Post-mortem results showed he succumbed to Covid-19. He was buried on December 26 at his rural home in Sanyati.
