OVER the past weekend, I had gone to bury my grandmother. She was born in 1914, that makes her 103 years old. Funerals normally give us a new perspective of how important time is. If a year has 365 days, she was alive for about 37 595 days without factoring in leap years. This estimate figure tells us how short our time on earth is. So it is important to use it wisely. I believe that wisdom starts with knowing that God is the master of all things and everything begins and ends with him. If we think in this manner, we stop worrying about trivial things and maintain focus on what God says about us, in that light we must never forget that God, the master, has made us master of all entities in the world including money. You have Christ himself in you. They all report to you. So start behaving like the master.
1 John 4 verse 4
“But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.”
Regardless of what suggestion money may have to give, do not listen. You only report to God the Father, the son and the Holy Spirit. Only he is your master. Your only manual is the Bible. All other books that oppose the Bible and any of its principles should be null to you. Disregard them. You must realise that by receiving Christ in your life, you have become master of all spiritual and physical powers because the master himself resides in you.
1 Corinthians 6 verse 19
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own.”
Who dares challenge the temple of the most high? God himself will come out and set them straight. Keep the focus of your life on the master. In everything let your money do the labouring, it is your slave. You have the king of kings in you. Your focus should be worshipping God with everything in you, nothing else should be more important to you, not even money. Besides that money is your slave, why should it be more important to you than your Father? How can a slave be more important than the King? Once this kind of thought pattern is imprinted in you, your focus will only be Christ.
You will notice even your worries fall into place. They will stop being worries and will obey every command you give them in the name of Jesus, using your money as the arm to shut them up. A mind that is untrained by Christ in this sort of thinking is subject to worry. Let me tell you how.
When you sit down and think of your problems, your mind tends to magnify them. They become very big to you. But when you know Christ, your mind says, you are smaller than Christ, get behind me. Do not go to God and tell him how big the problem is, instead address your worries and say “do you know how big my Jesus is?”
Matthew 6 verse 25
“Therefore do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?”
Philippians 2 verse 10
“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in Heaven and on earth and under the earth.”
Your automatic behaviour should be to worship God and send your money on projects around the world to work for you. God should remain King and author of your life regardless of the suggestions money has for you. Don’t mix up the hierarchy of mastery, God comes first, you second and everything else last.
John 14 verse 26
“But the comforter (counsellor, helper, intercessor, advocate, strengthener, standby) the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and cause you to recall everything I have told you.”
We must understand that it is possible to earn a very good sum of money to buy all your heart’s desires but still not feel satisfied by it. You can only feel satisfied when the presence of God is within you in all your work and you are doing it for the glory of his name. Have you ever asked yourself why some wealthy people continue to buy more and more property that they don’t even put to full use? People buy bottles of wine that cost millions and yet hardly ever drink them. Its because using their money that way gives them a temporary feeling of satisfaction of all their hard work. This is called emptiness of purpose. You may be rich but with no Godly purpose, you will always feel unsatisfied.
However, if you have taken time to seek God and have discovered your calling and purpose, the emptiness is taken away because you begin to do things with a purpose higher than your personal satisfaction. For example people in the ministry of compassion mainly care for underprivileged people. The majority of them hardly ever do anything different apart from the usual things they do. They work for part of the year and they spend the rest of the year travelling the world, solving financial problems of others, introducing people to Christ and setting them up to be productive members of the body of Christ. Yet they could spend the year travelling the world and buying this and that beautiful thing. They seem to sometimes forget they are rich. This is caused by walking in the light of their calling. You become comfortable with that sort of lifestyle of sharing what you have with the poor because it is the seed that God has planted in your spirit. They are just happy practising their calling. They are too busy preaching to remember that they have a billion dollars to spend on things the world expects them to buy. This is the type of comfort God desires for us.
Proverbs 10 verse 22
“The blessing of the Lord makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.”
In simple terms, in your calling is where all the wealth and satisfaction is hidden. The more you are in it the more you realise that you don’t need much effort to be wealthy. It just comes as revelations in your spirit. It just comes!! Most of these Christian businesspeople just enjoy spending their money on the things that are close to their heart. For example I love giving things away and seeing people smile. That is just what I love doing, I also love teaching people how to be wealthy, not to be rich. The things I cannot fully illustrate on a stage because of time I write down into books. It’s just what God put in me. If every Christian practised their calling at full strength and as per instruction of God, can you imagine how much the world would be drowning in the presence of the Almighty.
Don’t forget the hierarchy of mastery and submerge yourself in your calling, everything becomes far easier.
