ZANU PF structures must be guided by the party’s values and ethos as they prepare their resolutions ahead of the 22nd Annual National People’s Conference, party leader President Mnangagwa has stated.
Addressing the 387th Ordinary Session of the Politburo in Harare, the President emphasised that the DNA of ZANU PF, as a people’s party, must never be tampered with.
President Mnangagwa, who is the party’s First Secretary, commended the revolutionary party’s provincial structures and districts for their efforts in consolidating discussions in preparation for the upcoming conference, which will be held next month at Mutare Polytechnic College from October 13 to 18.
“I am pleased that the party machinery is demonstrating concerted refocusing and recalibration at all levels to achieve the set decisions and objectives.
“As we do so, let us maintain the central ideas, correct line, and the revolutionary mass nature of our colossal party. The DNA of ZANU PF, as a people’s party, must never be tampered with. Musangano wedu ndewe ruzhinji rweZimbabwe.”
The focus of the Politburo meeting, he said, was on matters such as the state of preparedness for the conference, which will be held in Mutare under the theme: “Attainment of Vision 2030 through economic empowerment and value addition.”
The President expected that the necessary preparations would have been completed by now to ensure a successful conference.
He congratulated party leadership across the country’s 10 provinces for their commitment to the success of their programmes and activities.
“The seamless coordination of recent events attests to our party’s organisational strength, prowess, and ability.
“This was evident at the launch of the Presidential Women’s League Empowerment Programme, the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo, and the recently held Munhumutapa Day commemorations,” said President Mnangagwa. All three events were resounding successes.
The party leadership was encouraged to mobilise members at grassroots level to keep the wheels of the revolution turning.
“I urge us all to work harder, grow, align, and strengthen our grassroots structures as we accelerate progress towards the realisation of Vision 2030.”
President Mnangagwa, who turned 83 on Monday this week, expressed gratitude to the party and the nation for the congratulatory messages extended to him.
Today, the President will chair the Central Committee meeting at ZANU PF Headquarters.
