HIGH-RIDING gospel artiste, Dorcas Moyo, continues to scale to new heights and feels that professionalism and humility are the key components that have made her one of the sought-after musicians in the country.
Hardly four months after scooping the prestigious National Arts Merit (NAMA) Award in the Outstanding Female Musician category, last week on Saturday Dorcas raised the Manicaland flag high again after winning the Best Traditional Gospel Award at the Zimbabwe Music Awards (ZIMA) ceremony held in Harare.
This is her second ZIMA award.
The elated Dorcas said she was honoured by the recognition.
“As DM Music, we are speechless and dumbfounded by the immense support we are receiving from our fans.
“They have pushed us to go beyond imagination and we remain forever indebted to our fans and followers,” said Dorcas, speaking through her manager, Peter Madondo.
“Indeed, the brand DM is gaining strides in the right direction.
“We owe this to humility, prayerfulness and professionalism. We are working flat-out to ensure that wherever we set foot, we leave a mark.
“As part of our strategic plans to be the most sought after gospel outfit, we take no chances in putting up a polished performance.
“We treat our clients and promoters with absolute professionalism and high esteem.
“I believe this has helped to give the brand a steady progression. Most importantly, we owe it to our fans who believe in the brand and its potential.
“We have received awards in excess of a dozen, and we hope more are still on the way.
“We have two — ZIMA and a NAMA awards and others awarded by various radio stations and organisations,” said Dorcas.
She said her recently-released album, “Mhanza Haisekwi”, has been received beyond expectations.
“We are excited by the overwhelming response and furthermore a heartfelt appreciation to Alick Macheso who has also gone on an unprecedented spree pushing the song during his live shows.
“Holding all things equal, ‘Mhanza Haisekwi’ is poised for honours this year if the current statistics and response is anything to go by,” she said.
