BEIJING. — Chinese Premier Li Keqiang met with Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos in Beijing yesterday.
Li, who visited the African country in May last year, spoke highly of the active implementation of consensus reached by the two countries during the visit.
China is ready to transform the bilateral cooperation from the traditional areas of raw materials and project contracts to equipment, technology and investment co-operation, Li said.
He said the two sides should strengthen cooperation in areas including petrifaction, iron and steel, building materials and textiles, as well as infrastructure.
Li called on the two sides to strengthen financial co-operation and expand more channels to support bilateral trade and investment co-operation. He also called for more co-operation on human resources development and training.
Dos Santos hailed the role played by China in promoting Africa’s peace and stability. He said Angola is looking forward to more Chinese investment and is ready to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
He hoped the two countries could further expand co-operation in areas including agriculture, industry, energy and finance, to push forward the bilateral strategic partnership.
Top political advisor Yu Zhengsheng also met with Angolan President dos Santos in Beijing yesterday.
Calling the two countries reliable friends that had always treated each other equally, Yu said both sides understood and supported one another’s core interests.
Yu is chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
China lauded Angola’s stability, harmony, and rapid economic and social development under the leadership of president dos Santos and the People’s Liberation Movement of Angola, said Yu.
Considering China-Angola ties as a successful example of China-Africa win-win cooperation and common development, Yu said the CPPCC hoped to boost exchanges with Angola, and share China’s experience in reform, opening-up and economic development.
Dos Santos hailed the profound friendship between both countries, adding that Angola appreciated China’s support, and hoped to boost reciprocal co-operation with China and enhance parliamentary exchanges.
The Angola president is on a state visit to China from June 8 to 13 at the invitation of President Xi Jinping. — Xinhua.
