TWO men were allegedly stabbed outside Kidza Nightclub in Luveve suburb in the wee hours of Tuesday morning, with one reportedly dying in the vicinity of the crime scene while the other lost his life at Mpilo Hospital.
The deceased are believed to be members of the same family.
When a Chronicle news crew arrived at the scene, residents were still in shock over the incident.
Standing in small groups the residents narrated to each other the violent scenes that unfolded outside their doorsteps in the middle of the night.
“There is a trail of blood outside a money exchange booth and two bricks that could have been used in the attack also have blood on them,” said a resident Mr Enock Mpofu.
He said he heard commotion outside the nightclub around 1am but did not think much of it since drunk patrons have a tendency of fighting outside the establishment from time to time.
“Police collected the body of the other guy a few metres from the nightclub where it is believed he collapsed after he was attacked. A lot of illegal gold miners drink at the nightclub so violent confrontations are common,” he added.
Mr Tapiwanashe Mapfumo, the nightclub proprietor, said video footage from cameras capturing activity outside the establishment show one man being attacked by several individuals.
“I understand one of the deceased passed away at Mpilo Hospital after his friends used his vehicle to transport him to the hospital. The other man’s body was collected by police early in the morning.
“Camera footage shows a group of people arguing before one of the men fell down. We will leave it to the police to do further investigations,” said Mr Mapfumo.
Bulawayo deputy police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Thandekile Ndlovu said her office was still yet to get full details of the double homicide.
This is a developing story.
