PRESENTATION of the unread Highlanders Football Club 2023 financial report will be made at today’s Extra Ordinary General Meeting (EGM) at the clubhouse.
The meeting will be headlined by the chairman’s report and treasurer’s report for the first-half of the 2024 season.
In that regard, Bosso secretary-general Morgen Dube said bona fide members will attend the meeting.“There will be reading of previous meeting results, treasurer’s report, audit presentation and chairman’s activity report of the 2024 season. All issues on the agenda are going to be discussed as advised in an advert we placed in the newspapers,”said Dube.
In January, Bosso members converged on their clubhouse in North End all in a bid to review the club’s performance in the field and with regards to management. Treasurer Israel Moyo’s presentation of unvalidated financials was a development that did not go down well with a number of Bosso’s paid up members.
The club’s treasurer was temporarily blocked by members to make his presentation and it took the intervention of board members for him to take to the podium. In his presentation, Moyo underscored all was not well in the Bosso system adding that the club’s checks and controls were wanting.
Moyo laboured to make his presentation as some club members expressed their displeasure. With some club members seconding Moyo to take to the podium, it boiled down to the intervention of the club’s board members which included Luke Mnkandla, Elkanah Dube and Peter Dube who eventually presented his report.

Some members were up on their feet, finger-pointing and speaking on top of their voices to register their displeasure.
Last year, the same meeting was eventually adjourned to a later date mainly because audited financial accounts could not be availed to members. The issue of the reporting currency was the bone of contention for the 2022 financials.
The conversion of the accounts from the local currency to the US dollar took longer than anticipated leading to the delay.
The meeting was eventually held in May 2022 while the then treasurer Busani Mthombeni resigned citing personal commitments.
The board of directors in consultation with the executive committee eventually co-opted Moyo as the treasurer. Meanwhile, Bosso will this afternoon take on Premier Soccer League matches newboys Chegutu Pirates at Baobab Stadium.
Highlanders were last weekend held to a nil all draw by Premier Soccer League returnees TelOne. Dynamos will fight it out against Bulawayo Chiefs at Barbourfields Stadium.
“It’s another big game for us but we are hoping of getting it right after suffering some defeats. We are bringing in new players after losing Never Rauzhi, Marven Hativagoni and Xolisani Moyo among other players,” said Sibanda.
