amidst the all-nation offensive to make a great leap forward in all sectors of building a great, prosperous and powerful nation.
On the occasion, they were filled with boundless reverence for President Kim Il Sung who devoted his life to the building of a people-centred socialism and a firm determination to eternally glorify the country as Kim Il Sung’s Korea under Kim Jong Il’s leadership.

The greatness of a nation rests on its leadership and its prosperity is guaranteed by the ideology and leadership of its leader.
Kim Il Sung is founder of the DPRK, father of socialist Korea and peerless patriot. He set out on the road of revolution in his teens with an ambition to build socialism in which the ideal and desire of the people are realised.
He led a bloody war against Japanese imperialism to liberate the country from colonial occupation, thus paving the way for the independent development and prosperity of the country and people.

He founded the DPRK on September 9 1948, which was a historic event that ushered in a new era of socialist nation building on the basis of the Juche and the Songun ideas – based on army first policy – and an event of great jubilation which brought about a radical turn in shaping the destiny of the Korean people.
It provided them with a powerful political guarantee of accomplishing the revolutionary cause of Juche, which was started and advanced on the strength of arms and enabled them to greet a new era of national prosperity.

The DPRK has strived to develop and strengthen friendship and co-operation with the Republic of Zimbabwe since way back when it was in national liberation struggle against colonialism and, rendered full support to its just cause for independence by providing spiritual and material assistance.
President R G Mugabe paid a state visit to the DPRK in October 1980 soon after Zimbabwe gained its independence and secured stronger ties to further develop bilateral friendships in many fields by signing a Treaty of Friendship and Co-operation between the two countries with President Kim Il Sung.

Therefore, the DPRK has since fully co-operated with the Republic of Zimbabwe in building a new, strong and independent nation in political and economic aspects.
The leadership, governments and peoples in the two countries supported each other in their just cause to develop and strengthen the Non-Aligned Movement as well as developed bilateral relations, overcoming setbacks of the era and now friendship between the two countries continues toward new developments to cope with aspirations of the new millennium. The DPRK fully supports

Zimbabwe in its endevours for political stability, economic recovery and growth and, in the lifting of the illegal sanctions imposed by the US and other Western countries and sincerely wishes Zimbabwe every success.
The common cause of the two countries for independence, peace and friendship should surely be overcome.

The DPRK has advanced along the road of victory and glory since its inception. It defeated the US imperialist aggressors who boasted of being the “strongest” in the world and built a socialist country independent in politics, self-supporting in the economy and self-reliant in defence.
It underwent a radical change in all the domains of politics, military affairs and the economy, and provided itself with a firm foundation for national prosperity.

Its history of prosperity is attributtable to the leadership and a long journey of patriotic devotion of Jim Jong Il.
Through his decades-long revolutionary leadership, he has set an example of building a strong socialist country.

The military power is the essence of the state power and without a strong army, the prosperity of a country cannot be imagined.
Today, the army of the DPRK has grown to be the invincible revolutionary armed forces and the country is demonstrating its might as a militarily strong socialist nation with a powerful war deterrent.

The DPRK has a rosy future as it becomes prosperous and strong – backed by the great army-people unity.
Thanks to this single-mindedness of the army and people, signal achievements have been made one after another.
