“The Chinese Federation is here to support the young local artistes in their talents, as you can see it was a tough competition and it was difficult for us choose the best performing artistes as their performances were outstanding.
“At the end we had to come up with finalists and from today we are have come up with 12 finalists and these are the ones who will go to China, the team will comprise of last year’s top 10 and those from this year,” said Steve Zhao.
In separate interviews the winners expressed their joy and excitement.
“I’m still in shock but excited and I’m still trying to get it into my head that I have made it to the finals,” said Rutendo Magwenzi.
One of the Real Flex group members, Tongai Zuze, said he was happy that their group had won.
“On behalf of my group I express joy and jubilation because we fought hard to win in this competition and we are going to show them in China that we have talent and as a group we thank God that we made it,” he said.
Rumbidzai Matinanga, the spokesperson of Dream Star Zimbabwe, however said that of the 12 groups not everyone would get to go to China.
“Tonight was for the brand and Chinese ambassador, we are still yet to select those who will go from the groups. As you can see some of the groups had many participants and we cannot accommodate all of them due to the number of tickets that we have. The groups will have to select those who will go to represent them, the final selection will be on Tuesday” said Matinanga.
Brand ambassador Jah Prayzah who was present at the event told the young talents that they should not be deterred from their dreams by criticism.
“I was also once a dreamer who managed to make it to where I am today, there is a lot of criticism in this industry but that should not let you lose hope. Keep up the good work and you will make it. Don’t lose sight of your dream,” said Jah Prayzah.
Extra large, Trevor Dongo, and Madiz were the other artistes who put up outstanding performances at the show.
