Drug peddler in court over meth worth $54 000

A suspected 20-year-old drug peddler appeared in court after she was found in possession of crystal methamphetamine with a street value of $54 000 that she was trading at her residence in Chitungwiza.

Tabeth Chakabveyo, of Unit G Chitungwiza, appeared at the Chitungwiza Magistrates’ Court charged with dealing in dangerous drugs.

Chakabveyo, who was represented by lawyer Mr Tapiwa Allen Munodawafa, was not asked to plead when he appeared before magistrate Mr Tinashe Tashaya, who remanded him to April 6 on $10 000 bail.

It is said that on March 24, at around 10am detectives received information that Chakabveyo was trading drugs at her place.

Detectives allegedly went to on survellaince and spotted her serving a ‘client’ using a small bucket containing the said drugs she was lowering using a rope.

It is said that detectives then approached her and conducted some searches leading to recovery of 0.52grammes of crystal methamphetamine.

The methamphetamine was taken for forensic tests.
