“Drugs are sold at school”

CHILD Educate Trust (CET) says some drugs are being sold at high schools in Mbare, Harare.

CET hosted an alcohol awareness campaign targeting high school students in Mbare.  The event is aimed at equipping the students, in particular, and young people, in general, with the knowledge and resources to make informed decisions about alcohol and its consequences.

Wayne Mudzeru, a CET social worker, said alcohol and substance abuse has become prevalent among students and requires a multi-faceted approach to address it.

“Substance abuse, particularly among our youths, is a growing concern, especially in Mbare, where some students are even selling it on school premises. By engaging students directly, we hope to empower them to make choices that safeguard their wellbeing and foster a healthier community,” said Mudzeru.

Shelter Zengeni, another social worker who participated in the campaign, said it is through open dialogues that students can be skilled to fight substance abuse.
