Drunk man drowns in swimming bid

Mutare Bureau
A man from Tsvingwe, Penhalonga, drowned when he tried to swim after spending the night drinking beer with friends. Manicaland police spokesperson Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa confirmed the death of Lucky Dinha (28) from Redwing Mine.

The incident happened last week.

“On May 12 at around 6pm, Dinha was drinking beer at Penhalonga Business Centre together with his friends. After drinking they later decided to go to a country club,” he said.

Insp Kakohwa said on reaching the country club, Dinha tried to swim, but because he was drunk he drowned. Dinha’s friends tried, but failed to rescue him. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Sub-Aqua Unit was called and retrieved Dinha’s body.

Insp Kakohwa warned the public against risking their lives by going into water bodies, especially when drunk.
