The Kariba men were then dislodged by perennial campaigners Black Rhinos but resurgent DStv used their fine home win over Banket to push the soldiers into second place on superior goal difference.
DStv, who fought boardroom wrangles with eventual 2011 champions Harare City, started their campaign on a bright note winning six of their opening nine matches, drawing twice and losing once.
In their win over Banket, DStv found their goals through a brace each by Brian Muzondiwa and Denzel Savanhu.
Kenny Mageja could have made it 5-0 for DStv in the 85th minute but failed to convert from a spot kick.
After beating Aces Youth Academy 2-0 in a mid-week fixture, DStv left their coach Masimba Mutame a happy man.
“It was a good display from the boys and I give credit to them for a job well done. It is important to maintain our form and keep on winning as many games as we can so that we will see where we stand at the end of the season.
“It’s still too early to talk about the championship but these are the type of matches that matter most at the end of the season, you need to win and score as many goals as you can. We have to stay focused on our next assignment and avoid complacency,” said Mutame.
