ZIMBABWE continues to make strides in ensuring that Expo 2020 Dubai, which will be held from October 1, 2021 to March 22 next year, achieves cross-cutting benefits for the country after the Government roped in the creative sector to participate at the exhibition.
The expo is expected to help lure investors, tourists and increase trade.
In a statement, Commissioner-General for Expo 2020 Dubai, Ambassador Mary Mubi, said the Government has injected huge sums of money to enhance the creative sector ahead of the exhibition.
“The injection was facilitated through the Zimbabwe Pavilion Co-ordination Office, this is one of the largest investments by the Second Republic in the creative sector.
A lot of opportunities are envisaged to be unleashed through Zimbabwe’s participation at the World Expo and will cut across other sectors such as agriculture, tourism, mining, infrastructure, health, education and innovation,” she said.
Several local companies, including media production houses, were contracted for content production.
Ambassador Mubi added: “For now, most of the resources will be invested in video, audio and digital content. The Expo 2020 Dubai coordinating team has therefore made a clarion call for media houses to provide captivating content covering the different zones.
“Emphasis will be on the best that Zimbabwe has to offer, people, cuisine, the future of Zimbabwe, fashion, tourism, manufacturing, infrastructure, agriculture, mining sector, arts and crafts, among others.”
The country has made considerable efforts in making preparations for the Expo Dubai 2020, which will run under the theme “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”.
Zimbabwe’s Expo-Dubai 2020 sub-theme was recently amended from “Zimbabwe – Land of Great People” to “Zimbabwe – Land of Great Opportunities”.
