ZIFA president Cuthbert Dube has congratulated Danny Jordaan following his recent election as the new South African Football Association leader.
The veteran South African football administrator was last Saturday elected to lead Safa as he took over from Kirsten Nematadani who was not nominated by any of the 52 Safa regions. Jordaan beat Mandla Mazibuko as he poled 162 votes against his rival’s 88.
Mwelo Nonkonyane, Lucas Nhlapo and Elvis Shishana will serve as vice-presidents to Jordaan until 2017.
In his message to Safa, Dube is hopeful that Jordaan will steer South African football to another level.
“The Zimbabwe Football Association hereby congratulates your esteemed office and person following your election as president of the South African Football Association on Saturday, September 28, 2013.
“Your election by the family of football in South Africa is testament to your leadership qualities. South Africa Football Association should scale unprecedented heights under your astute and visionary leadership,” read part of the statement by Dube.
Dube believes Zimbabwe and South Africa has a lot in terms of football especially with the Warriors often engaging Bafana Bafana in friendly matches while more than a dozen Zimbabweans are employed by South African Premiership and National League sides.
“Zimbabwe and South Africa share a lot in terms of history, cultures and football and we look forward to exploring more opportunities for growth of football in our respective countries.”
