TWO men from Harare allegedly involved in a domestic dispute were recently brought before the magistrates court on charges of sodomy.
In a statement, the National Prosecution Authority of Zimbabwe said Tavimbanashe Chawatama (28) and Leonard Nyakudya (25) allegedly entered into a consensual relationship in August last year and moved in together.
Tensions escalated on August 27 this year when an argument erupted over allegations of infidelity, with Chawatama accusing Nyakudya of cheating, leading to a heated exchange.
As the disagreement intensified, Nyakudya reportedly decided to move out and while he was in the middle of doing so, Chawatama claimed that his money was missing, prompting both men to involve the police to investigate the matter.
While speaking to the police about the missing funds, the two men inadvertently disclosed details of their alleged living arrangements, leading to their arrest, with the information about their living arrangements and the nature of their relationship becoming central to the charges filed against them.
The two were each granted US$50 bail and will return to court on September 6 for trial commencement. — New Ziana.
