Two employees who were accused of failing to account for US$15 000 entrusted to them by their employer have been acquitted after a full trial.

Takudzwa Kazembe (34) and Loveday Jachi (18) who were represented by their lawyer, Mr Owen Safuri, were facing charges of failure to account for trust property.

However, Mbare magistrate Mr Dennis Mangosi found them not guilty after ruling that the State had failed to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt.

The complainant was Ginwa Enterprises, represented by its manager, Mr Edwin Moyo.

According to court proceedings, Kazembe and Jachi were employed by the same firm.

The two were assigned duties involving the transportation of goods and handling company funds.

The State alleged that on December 16, 2025 at around 7:45am, the pair was assigned a three-tonne Mitsubishi truck loaded with stock that was supposed to be delivered to the company’s Gulf Complex branch.

The two were also expected to return to the warehouse with cash collected from the shop.

After delivering the goods, Kazembe allegedly received US$15 000 from the Gulf Complex shop supervisor, Mr Zacharia Madhabha.

However, upon returning to the warehouse, the two informed management that they no longer had the money and failed to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding its whereabouts.

A police report was made, leading to their arrest and prosecution.

None of the money was recovered.
