Dynamos 1-0 Black Rhinos
DYNAMOS needed an Eli ILunga penalty deep into injury time to win against a determined Black Rhinos in a Castle lager Premiership match played here yesterday.
It was a match, DeMbare gaffer Hebert Maruwa desperately needed to win to save his job, thanks to the injury minutes pressure on Black Rhinos which resulted in a penalty.
While it was a good day in office for Maruwa’s boys, Black Rhinos fans accused match referee Allan Bhasvi of making questionable decisions.
The match was played at Bata Stadium — the home of Sheasham FC — which Black Rhinos is using as its home ground.
Having gone behind in the second-half, following a Darren Mutimuzunze strike, DeMbare found their way back after being awarded a penalty in the 69th minute.
After a lengthy stoppage as Chauya Chipembere players and officials protested, Donald Dzvinyai equalised from the spot for DeMbare.
As the match appeared to be heading for a draw, the Glamour Boys got another penalty in the referee’s optional time which was converted by ILunga much to the delight of the Dynamos fans.
After the match, Dynamos coach Hebert Maruwa was relieved at picking maximum points but admitted it was a tension-filled match.
“It was always going to be a tough match, I was at Rhinos together with four or so guys so tension was bound to be there but I’m happy we got the win,” he said.
His opposite number
felt his players could have handled themselves better during the match.
“Football is what we saw here, I am not happy with my players’ behaviour,” he said.
“If the referee says it’s a penalty, then it’s a penalty. We spoiled what could have been a come back for us,” said Chaminuka.
It was a match in which the army side had contained DeMbare restricting them to long range efforts as they had compàcted their rearguard.
Rhinos themselves, could have easily won this one if they had been clinical in the first-half but were let down by their strikers.
DeMbare gained momentum late in the first-half but found Lennon Gonese in goal for the army side in top form.
Once Mutimuzunze got the opener for Rhinos, Dembare became more aggressive but still failed to penetrate their opponent’s defence, but fortuitously got the two penalties that earned them a win.
