DYNAMOS are doing everything for positive results including conducting church services led by renowned clergymen before training sessions.
The Glamour Boys, who are celebrating their 60th anniversary this year, are keen to spice up everything by winning the league title. They are still in with a good chance in a wide-open race led by Highlanders who enjoy an eight-point advantage over fourth-placed Dynamos with 13 matches still to be played.
Yesterday the team conducted a mini church service lasting for about 33 minutes before they went through their paces in preparation for their league tie against Cranborne Bullets at Nyamhunga tomorrow.
The spiritual session was led by Vimbai Butawu, a preacher with a popular church, who expressed satisfaction over the manner in which everything is panning out at the team.
“Our vision as a church is to spread the gospel. And this (football) is another world of young people. We are bringing the word of God to them. We are doing this so that they can also be inspired in everything that they do. “We live in the glory of God in everything that we do including what they do which is playing soccer,” Butawu said.
“When we bring the word, we want to see them succeed in everything that they do, the manifestation of God in their lives . . .
“They can then inspire other young people. So us sharing the glory of God means that they can also go out there and share it further”. She said Dynamos, as far as the spiritual side is concerned, are moving in the right direction. “They (Dynamos players) are very receptive to what the word of God says and they are applying it in their lives.
“When we share the word, it’s about how they act upon it. They also ask for prayer points during our sessions. You would see how they put God in everything that they do. They ask for prayer points including even unity in the team. They know God is the one who brings that unity”. Dynamos chairman Moses Maunganidze said the Glamour Boys decided to engage religious people to address the spiritual side of the players and staff members.
“We have been doing this for a while now. It’s all to do with motivating and inspiring our players at the end of the day,” Maunganidze said.
“As human beings, we know the players should also live in an upright manner. They live in a society with others and they should always be seen doing the right things and inspiring others.
“We live by faith and it is also our hop that the sermons they receive can also drive them to aim higher in their careers”.
Interim coach, Genesis Mangombe has urged his men to step up to the plate and give a flawless show when they date Cranborne Bullets tomorrow.
“We are ready for the match against Cranborne Bullets. We are doing some final tactical touch ups. “We need to do all we can in order for us to get the maximum points. But this is a game of football, we have three results,” said Mangombe.
“We need to be very cautious because our opponents are in the relegation zone.
“The squad is healthy and everyone is ready to go. We are going to travel early to acclimatise with the weather in Kariba. The players have also been taking a lot of fluids so that we can conquer the high temperatures there”.
